Ken Kraus Announces Candidacy for New York’s 131st Assembly District
Chili attorney seeks seat vacated by Assemblywoman Susan John

May 11, 2010

Chili resident and local attorney Ken Kraus today announced his candidacy for the New York State Assembly in the 131st District.  Kraus has received strong support from Monroe County Republican Committee Chairman Bill Reilich, Chili Town Supervisor David Dunning and many others throughout the District.  Kraus is running on the main issues of tax relief, controlling spending, economic development, job growth and mandate reform.

“Monroe County property taxpayers are among the heaviest taxed in the nation – that is both unacceptable and unsustainable,” said Kraus.  “As the Assemblyman for the 131st District, I will bring back the resident’s voice in Albany and speak out against the over-spending by Assembly Democrats which has resulted in the over-taxation of our community.”

Kraus earned his Juris Doctor from University of Buffalo Law School and is employed as an attorney at Evans and Fox, LLP.  He is also a volunteer mentor for the Lawyers for Learning Program at Rochester City School No. 29 and a member of the Seneca Park Zoo Society.  Kraus also previously coached swimming in an urban outreach project for a number of Public Schools in the City of Buffalo.

“I am excited to support Ken Kraus for New York State Assembly,” said Chairman Reilich.  “Ken is a strong candidate who understands the important issues facing our community and our State.  He will be a strong ally in our fight for lower taxes and less spending in Albany so we can bring more jobs to the Rochester area.”

The 131st Assembly District is comprised of the Towns of Chili, Wheatland, Riga and Rush and encompasses portions of the City of Rochester.
