Monroe County Executive Endorses Harry Wilson for New York State Comptroller

Says New Yorkers Can’t Afford Another Year of Albany Insider Tom DiNapoli

Rochester, NY- September 28, 2010… Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks (R) today endorsed nationally-recognized restructuring expert Harry J. Wilson (R,C,I) for New York State Comptroller at an endorsement news conference in Rochester, Mr. Wilson's campaign announced.  Mr. Wilson, 38, led the restructuring effort of General Motors last year for the Presidential Auto Task Force. Mr. Wilson has called for a special debate with current unelected Comptroller Tom DiNapoli on issues specific to Western New York. County Executive Brook’s endorsement comes on the heels of an endorsement today by the
New York Post.

“Harry Wilson’s qualifications are exactly what we need in Albany right now,” said County Executive Brooks. “Harry is a political outsider who can stand up to Albany’s entrenched special interests, but he also brings to the table a wealth of business experience that is critical to managing New York’s $129 billion pension fund." She continued, "As county executive, I understand firsthand how Albany's runaway spending and unfunded mandates are passed down to taxpayers with no accountability. We need a new generation of principled leaders, like Harry Wilson, who will help get our state back on track."

Mr. Wilson grew up in upstate Johnstown, NY (Fulton County) and now lives in Westchester County with his wife and four children.  He is the son and grandson of working class Greek immigrants and was the
first person in his immediate family to go to college.  He is a graduate of Harvard University and the Harvard Business School. After fifteen successful years at four highly distinguished firms - Goldman Sachs, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, The Blackstone Group, and Silver Point Capital - Mr. Wilson volunteered for and was selected to serve on the President's Auto Task Force.  He was the only Republican to serve in its leadership team.
