STATEMENT FROM MONROE COUNTY REPUBLICAN CHAIRMAN BILL REILICH
RE: Monroe County Democrat Candidates Say No to Fair Elections
“Monroe County Democratic Committee Chairman Joe Morelle should be ashamed of his decision today to encourage dirty politics in our own backyard. Morelle and many Democrat candidates signed the ‘Fair Campaign Pledge’ with the League of Women Voters’ Fair Election Practices Committee earlier this year – now, one week from Election Day, local Democrats have made it clear that they think the rules shouldn’t apply to them. Monroe County voters deserve better.
By boycotting fair elections, Morelle has embraced the same type of dirty, partisan politics that turned Albany into a swamp of corruption under Downstate Democrats. What’s more, this move casts doubt upon all local Democrat candidates’ ability to bring real reform if elected. Such petty political gamesmanship just goes to show that local Democrats have no real plan to reform our broken State government, and will do anything to distract from their failures on the issues that matter to local taxpayers.”
